Welcome back to the FoxWeb. It's Tuesday, and it's Moon Time!
Tonight will see the rise of the Harvest Moon, a Super Moon (meaning the moon is closer to Earth in its orbit) which will make it seem extra-bright tonight. But only briefly, because this moon comes with a partial lunar eclipse for many parts of the world. If you wander out shortly after moonrise, you should see the Earth's shadow creep across the moon around 8:45pm Eastern Time, going into full shadow around 10:15pm. It then slips back out of shadow and will be extra-luminous for the rest of the night.
What's nifty about this Super Moon is that it will appear nearly full for almost three days, providing extra light in the evenings if you want to get out and harvest something... hence, the "Harvest Moon." If you have some other moonlit activity in mind, go for it. The moon will be happy for the company.
If you're looking for something to do while waiting on the moon, today is National Apple Dumpling Day. Grab yourself a treat and settle in while the moon gets ready to rise!
We'll be back on Friday, so no Wednesday update this week. Enjoy whatever you're up to, and think lots of good thoughts, just for fun.
Cheers!
